Just making a quick post while I am getting ready to go out for a “night on the town”. Haha not really on the town but going to go out with some friends and have a good time. I haven’t been able to do much lately because I have been so busy but as I stand here putting on makeup and picking out what to wear and what not it really is just exciting knowing your about to go out for a nice relaxing nice with some girlfriends. I don’t get to do it that often so I try to bask in the enjoyment of it all. Should be fun. We are probably going to end up seeing a movie tonight as well – not sure which one to see yet though. We are learning towards that new movie Tangled – but we will have to see what time it is playing and what we feel like when we get around to that.

Just a quick tip for those who wear diapers out in public or any where I guess for that matter. If you want to wear a thicker diaper like a Bambino, Molicare, Secure, etc. and not deal with it being so tight on you and puffy while wearing it…first, when putting the diaper on make sure after taping it up to stand up and readjust it if you put the diaper on laying down so that it is better fitting. Roll the top of the diaper down so that it does not bulge so much in the front and then push on the front of the diaper and the back to try and “loosen” the diaper up to be a bit less “bulgy” and also to release some of the air trapped in it. Then, place a bit of vaseline on the areas in the crotch to help the diaper slide and not chaff or cause any uncomfortable marks in that area. That is sort of my process for diapering a lot of times…it helps *Some*. It can only help to a certain extent but when going out on a night like tonight where I REALLY don’t want to have leakage issues and uncomfortable issues I wear a thicker diaper (Bambino) and follow those steps almost religiously and it helps me at least. Not sure how that all plays out in the “man part” department as I know that can add an extra “obstacle” I am sure to the bulge. Not sure what to tell you there.

Anyways, I’m off and I hope everyone has a great weekend! stay dry!

I just wanted to wish everyone a merry Christmas even though it is a little late and an early Happy New Years. If you are Jewish then…Happy Hanukkah time. I hope everyone got what they wanted presents wise. What did everyone get? Anything exciting? I got a lot of clothes because that is what I like but I did get a new Ipod Shuffle and running headphones for my new found love of trying to workout more. Nothing too exciting? If you got any interesting or really awesome gift I would love to know.

Also, if there are any girls out there or maybe anyone with any experience with using headbands too hold your hair up and keeping it from falling in your face when you run please suggest some. I typically used ones from Target or Walmart but those aren’t cutting it. I have heard good things about Nike’s brands but wasn’t sure. So, if you have any experience with that – would love to hear your suggestions.

Just ordered my new cases of Teddy Bambinos as I ran out out of them so with some of my Christmas money I got I figured I could use some of it on couple cases of Bambino Diapers. Anyone else using some of their Christmas cash on diapers? I typically do it every year. Funny story, we were traveling this holiday season and it was a LONG LONG drive. I was wearing one of those Unique Wellness diapers in the car and for anyone who hasn’t tried them, I figured they would be OK for the drive but oh how wrong I was. I leaked all over my seat and jeans. I wasn’t about to change into another one of those so we had to actually stop and we bought some of the Depends from CVS which actually didn’t leak on the first wetting while sitting down like the Unique Wellness did on me. The Depends obviously didn’t hold much at all but they didn’t leak on me so that was good. But, I hadn’t worn a Depends diaper in a long time and it felt so weird because of how paper thin it was. Those things are meant for maybe 1-2 wettings lol. I guess I have been spoiled with the Abenas, Bambinos and Molicares of the world.

Buying adult diapers can be a complex process for some people based on their needs. Many people you would be surprised to find out that they know nothing about buying diapers online such as Abena, Bambino Diapers, Molicare, Secure, etc etc. They probably haven’t seen these brands in their local stores so they know nothing about them. All they know is what the store gives them and hence are missing out on a lot of features that some of the best adult diapers provide. So, their choice is simple for the most part because the selection is so limited in stores and the quality is so poor. But, for the rest of the people that have discovered the advantage to ordering adult diapers online have come to find that it can be a complex choice on which ones to go with based on a lot of different factors.

I know for me when I look at buying adult diapers and which ones I choose to ‘invest’ in I go for the best quality (i.e. best absorbency, tapes, etc) because this in essence will allow the diaper to last longer and takes a lot of the worries about leaking out of the picture. Price is also a major factor in buying adult diapers…probably the biggest factor for a lot of people. I for one am a fan of an “all in one” price meaning that the shipping is built into the price and your just paying for what is advertised. I hate getting to the end of a checkout cart and then seeing any amount extra added onto shipping – that always makes me hesitate to buy things because no matter how much it is, its a mental thing for me. Some of the big players in the adult diaper world do this all in one pricing and I think its a huge advantage.

One thing to look at when comparing adult diapers (especially premium adult diapers) is not only their features that come with it but the cost per unit. That means if a case if $50 for example and you are getting 40 diapers then the cost per diaper is $1.25. This is important to take into consideration because while one sites price may appear cheaper for a case – it may just have more or less diapers in the case.

There are many tricks that some companies will enact that you may be unaware of…I will demonstrate one way companies do this. It is a prime example and nothing against the company – it is just how they lure you into buying their diapers. ABUniverse offers their Cushy diapers for $99 for 80 diapers…that puts the price at $1.24 per diaper basically. This is disregarding the fact that the Cushy diapers aren’t as absorbent or have as many features as some of the best adult diapers like Abena X-Plus, Bambino, Secure, Molicare…but anyways back to the point. ABUniverse is going to charge you shipping now which significantly increases the price per diaper. UNLESS, you spend $100…then you get free shipping…so they made the price $99 ($1 below $100) so now you have to buy something else to get that free shipping which may not be a problem for some but for those counting the pennies – this may be an issue. This is just one of those techniques some diaper companies employ to lure you into purchasing their diapers.

This does not even take into account the features of the adult diapers – absorbency, tapes, fit, leg gather effectiveness, material used, clumping, etc. Many of these features are extremely important and should definitely be considered…like clumping…while it does not seem like a big issue it can be a big issue in various ways. If a diaper clumps for one it can be uncomfortable for the user because now you have this huge clump of material in your diaper. Second, it DECREASES absorbency of the diaper because now you don’t have a lot of material covering where you urinate.

Many of you may already know all this but these are just prime examples of things you should at least think about before choosing to buy adult diapers. Adult diaper companies can use various tactics to lure you into buying a product even if it is inferior by disguising it with either just the look of the diaper (to make it look absorbent when it really isn’t) or to make it seem cheaper when its really not (either by not taking into account shipping or the diaper is so inferior to other diapers that you are not getting your money’s worth). I am a penny pincher in all honesty – so these are things I think about when I choose to buy my adult diapers…which for the record is typically Bambino Diapers, Secure Personal Care (which are now offered on Bambino’s website), and XP Medical. These are the most trusted sources in my mind over the years…not to say others aren’t – but these are my go to stores for anything I really need.

So, I know I haven’t posted in a while – been busy with some family things and personal issues. But, hopefully all that is done and I am good to go. I wanted to write a post on the premium adult diaper industry in general.

The adult diaper industry is huge. I mean huge. The premium adult diaper industry though is big but not big as in variety. There are only several huge adult diaper companies that actually put out a “premium” adult type diaper. When I refer to premium, I am referring to the heavy duty type adult diapers that are meant for big messes

If you really think about just how many truly “premium” adult diapers there are – it really is not that many and you start to see the lack of variety. You can probably name them on one hand: Abena X-Plus, Bambino Diapers, Secure Personal Care, ABUniverse, Molicare, and maybe Unique Wellness Brief and Dry 24/7. Those are the big time premium adult diapers on the market. What is also funny if you look at this list is that only 3 of those are truly American made adult diapers (Bambino and Secure)…which raises a question on why there are so few premium adult diaper manufacturers in the United States? Abena I believe is German, ABUniverse is manufactured outside of the United States, Unique Wellness Briefs are out of I believe Australia originally, etc. I left out Tranquility ATN because I don’t consider it on the same level as these adult diapers. I believe Molicare may be manufactured in the United States but was originally created over seas somewhere…at least I remember someone saying that somewhere…so don’t quote me on that.

I recognize that the premium adult diapers are made for a special population and not everyone needs such a heavy duty adult diaper. But, I think the manufacturers are really missing out on a specialized and focused group. Now, the one thing I can think of that may keep some manufacturers away from producing a premium diaper especially for the ABDL type people is the mass complaint system and small room for error. Consider this, Bambino Diapers does just that – they created a specialized adult diaper for the ABDL community mainly – fortunately, there product is really good and amazing but that does not keep the few that despise them for some reason to make it their mission to badmouth Bambino Diapers. When you have a specialized group and one person chooses to be immature that can really hurt a company that specifically caters to a smaller selection of people. So, it is risky for companies I would imagine to create a premium adult diaper for such specialized communities and/or groups when a few people who decide to be immature just plain don’t like the diaper or prefer another one over that one but want to badmouth about it to others for no reason. The same can be said for Abena – some people hate Abena products because of the tapes but the fact is that Abena makes very good products as well but a minor issue such as sometimes their tapes can be difficult cause people to go off on tangents about how terrible of a diaper it is – which is obvious not true. So, I would imagine that some companies think it is a risky operation to cater to such specialized groups which is why you don’t find so many “premium” type adult diapers.

Fortunately, the ABDL community and others can be thankful that a select few companies have decided to either cater to us or continue to manufacture a good premium product that can be used in the adult baby and diaper lover community. I know my thoughts are a bit sporadic today and you will have to forgive me on that – I sort of just type out what I think sometimes. And, I just think sometimes we may be a little too harsh on certain companies when it may be just because of a bad batch of adult diapers or small little inconsistencies that are normal in the manufacturing process. Little problems like that should not cause us to hate a product. I can understand big problems like a diaper ripping all the time, switching to cloth, poor customer service, etc. Those reasons I can understand for complaining but we as a specialized community should not be so quick to complain and crucify these companies that actively support us and provide great products whether it is specifically for us or not. I mean can you imagine what diapers you would be stuck with if we didn’t have Bambino Diapers, Secure, Abena, Molicare, or the other premium adult diapers. I am not hating on Depends or anything but I don’t know about you – but I don’t want to be relegated to using Depends or Attends the rest of my life and always worrying about leaks and all the other problems that come with the cheaper adult diapers. Just my thoughts!

An adult diaper is amazingly complex product but yet looks so simple on the outside. The idea of an adult diaper is so simple, a piece of plastic with padding in it to contain fluids and solid matter. When you describe it like that, an adult diaper seems so simple. But, the making of an adult diaper is complex and takes into consideration a lot of factors. So many factors go into making an adult diaper including design, appearance, absorbency, material used, features, and cost. There is a balancing act that must be played with creating adult diapers because manufacturers don’t want to create a super everything diaper that is going to cost butt-loads of money so that only a few select people buy it…that would not be profitable nor beneficial to the masses.

For example, an adult diaper manufacturer could create a super absorbent diaper by purely using polymer which absorbs many times more than pulp/fluff in an adult diaper. But, this would do two things:

Make the cost of the diaper skyrocket because polymer is a lot more expensive than pulp.

For ABDLs, using purely polymer would cause the diaper to be a lot thinner if it did not contain any pulp at all.

So, an adult diaper manufacturer has a balancing act to play. Depending on what they are aiming for, they may add more or less polymer depending on the absorbency they are going for. This exact situation can be seen in the adult diaper industry today, especially in the adult baby and diaper lover world.

The materials used to make adult diapers is extremely important in the diaper manufacturing process. Everything from the type of plastic to the woven inner-lining of the diaper. There are many different types of plastic outer coverings and the one you choose is important. Some plastics have big pores and are more susceptible to leaking or feeling clammy because moisture from wetting the diaper seeps into the plastic outer coating. The inner-lining of an adult diaper is probably a seemingly “taken for granted” part of the diaper. But, if you were to compare certain adult diapers side by side you would be able to feel and immense difference in softness of the inner lining (inside) between them. Bambino Diapers are famous for probably having the softest inner-lining on the market because they have a specially patented blend that makes the inner lining very soft. So, if you compare for example, a Bambino Diaper’s inner lining to an Attends – you can definitely tell the difference in the diaper’s softness of the inner-lining.

Cost is one of the biggest factors that goes into creating adult diapers. Keeping the diaper affordable but with the best features, absorbency, and materials used can prove quite a complex process. Plus, the diaper provider/manufacturer’s “profitability factor” must be taken into account. Obviously, each diaper sold is earning a profit for a diaper company, that amount earned is determined by the diaper company. Obviously, some companies are going to be more apt to make a “quick buck” by jacking up their prices. A person can easily determine the “greed factor” of a company by comparing that companies products with competitor’s prices in conjunction with features. Below, is a PRIME example of this:

The premium adult diapers include Bambino Diapers, Abena X-Plus, Secure X-Plus, Molicare and some would say the ABUniverse Diaper. If you were to shop around for prices of EACH of these diapers you would notice a similarity somewhat (between a few cents to 10-20 cents per diaper) between the Bambino, Abena, Secure, and Molicare; BUT, there is an outlier and its strange. The ABUniverse diaper costs around $2.25 PER DIAPER (ABU Cushie) while the Bambino is $1.36 PER DIAPER, Abena is $1.37 PER DIAPER, Secure is $1.36 PER DIAPER, and Molicare ranges from $1.40 to $1.57 PER DIAPER (depending on which store). This is NOT a knock against the ABUniverse diaper but just merely pointing out a huge discrepancy in price of their diaper compared to the rest of the premium adult diaper market.

To further the argument above, the ABUniverse Cushie diaper does NOT have any insane features that would possibly cause the price to be jacked up so high. Technically, the ABUniverse diaper is less absorbent than the Abena, Molicare, Bambino and Secure adult diapers. The materials are of higher quality in all the other diapers than ABUniverse. The only thing different is the look/design. The pure design itself should not cause such a huge price discrepancy. The only thing to conclude from this is that ABUniverse is more interested in making a higher profit by charging an outrageous price for technically an inferior diaper to its competitors in the premium diaper market. For those with lots of money and really just want the looks, the ABUniverse diaper might be up your alley, but I know I cannot afford to shell out that sort of money when I can get better absorbency, features, and comfort in a Bambino, Abena, Secure, or Molicare diaper.

This article is not meant to bash any diaper but rather point out pure facts and educate the ABDL community and anyone else looking to purchase adult diapers. Money is always tight now a days for many people, including myself, and I am trying to get the best bang for my buck. Much of the adult baby and diaper lover community does not think about these things, which you don’t have to, but I just wanted to provide a little tidbit of information that I take into consideration when purchasing my adult diapers (which is quite often). Money does not grow on trees for me, so I will take a cheaper price adult diaper with better absorbency, features, and material over a super expensive diaper that only has a different look. But, then again, everyone is different and after something different.

peter and I got some Molicare diapers in! I am very excited to try them though mots of the time they fit Peter much better than they do me so I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.. has anyone else tried these? They are very thick which is one reason that I really like them! I’ll have to take some pictures of Peter and I in them so you can see the Kind we got! At one point I ordered the same kind in a small to see if they would fit me and they did but they were also VERY VERY tight which is not what i like! This time we got medium which Peter has tried before! I’m excited to try something new that is for sure!

I’m about to go into work, hopefully I will have a lot going on which sounds weird but it really makes me they day go so much faster when I do! I can’t stand just sitting around and watching the minutes just trickle by….I hope everyone has a great Friday Afternoon!

Hugs!
