It will create a barrier between your skin and the mess, and it will help make clean up easier because nothing will stick to your skin. This will also help you to avoid the skin irritation that comes from prolonged exposure to a messy diaper. I always make sure that I do this before I go out for the day, that way if I have a messy diaper, I don't go through my entire pack of travel wipes just to get cleaned up. I mean, I've cleaned up after a messy diaper with a 3 minute shower many times, no problems with my plumbing or anything. I never bother with wiping, its too much work. I think a shower would clean you better, too. Get a hand held shower head so you could easier direct where the water was going. One thing I've found that helps is if I keep shaved completely down there. It is a pain being that I have to do it myself and can't see everything, but a good electric razor with the trimmer attachment helps a lot. Just getting rid of the hair makes the wipes a lot more effective. Though you need to be careful. Razor burn is definitely worse than diaper rash. Something just came to mind that isn't perfect, but could work... rubber gloves. You could use them to pull bulk of it off and then use wipes for the remainder.
