iowaincon has the best advice, and I'd like to piggy back off that: anythign with Zinc Oxide is the best. I have found "Boudreaux’s Butt Paste" to work really REALLY well! Yes, it's an odd name if you've never heard of it. It's in a yellow can or tube, and the lettering is in red. Someone recommended it to me a while back, and it really works fast! I've seen it nearly everywhere if you look -- Wal-Mart comes to mind.

Also, if you use powder, use the medicated version. In fact, I have never used anythign but the J&J medicated, and I haven't had a rash in a coulpe of years.

To get fast relief, wear your diaper a little loose on weekends if you are just sitting around, and wear no pants. That will help air get in there and it will heal much qwuicker.

I feel bad for you Stacey. Good thing you've got Peter to help! Take care...

I have had some bad cases of diaper rash in the past. The thing that works the best for me is a Zinc Oxide based cream like desitin. I always get the creamy kind because it goes on easier, and is more soothing. If you have a normal diaper rash going on, you should have relief withing 24 hours of continual use. If it does not ease off in that time, you may have a fungal type thing going on, and I have used lotrimin AF cream for that in the past. I had a spot on my hip one time that just would not go away, and used Lotrimin on it for three days, and it was gone. I also recommend that you find some gold bond baby powder, it also has zinc oxide in it, and helps prevent diaper rash better then normal baby powder. And of course, try to let your skin breathe and dry out a little between diaper changes, lay there on the changing mat, and have a towel handy in case you start to leak, and let yourself air out for 20 min or so each day. Hope that this helps, I have been there before, and it really hurts. Take care and good luck.

I'm sorry, but Lynn:

Do you not spell-check your posts at ALL? I mean... do you really not notice how horribly written all of your comments are?

I enjoy reading Stacey's blog, but my oh my your comments are painful to read.

As far as the diaper rash goes Stacey, I'd suggest you go see your doctor if it doesn't get better soon. They have prescription stuff that will help you out. I wouldn't say severe diaper rash is 'normal', but it's definitely not uncommon. Your doctor will know how to take care of it effectively, maybe just give him a quick call.
