Perspectives of a 24/7 Diaper Lover

Alright…I have doubled diapers before but I guess I am not doing it properly according to some.

Stacey, I have found that if you take the INNER attends.. and poke holes (small ones) in the plastic outside.. the excess urine will sleep through to the outer one, effectively doubling your wear time. I use a sharp pair of scissors, and use one point..sort of slipping it through the plastic without disturbing the padding and gel. A little trial and error will show you the best way. Keep the holes closer to the center, an do the full length of where you usually wet, front to back. Good luck!
What I usually do is use a razor knife to cut slits in the first diaper, then put it on. Be sure not to cut too deep, or all the stuffing will come out. You only want to cut the plastic backing.
I’ve found that, with most plastic-backed diapers, you can tear the plastic with your hands, and spread it apart as you go down. The padding will usually stay in place (some diapers, like Depends, seem to have a pretty solid padding system already, so it’s no problem to split the plastic), and once the outer diaper is on, it doesn’t matter what happens with the inner diaper’s padding. I usually double or triple my diapers, just to get that thick feeling. It really makes a difference!
You could also try to buy inserts, they will double the absorbancy while still using one diaper. They usually run for $5-8 for 25 of them or 200 for $15.
Just found this message…
For some odd reason, no one in the ABDL community (except me, maybe…) seems to use the
Wartenburg Pinwheel for perforating their inner diapers when going double. There is not a better tool sold that works as good. For just about $12 you can have one and stop stabbing, ripping & slicing your wonderful diapers to shreds. The pinwheel perforates dozens of times on each pass (I usually do a couple dozen passes) and guarantees that the inner diaper will bleed into the outer diaper, doubling your pleasure and fun. It’s funny, really, because I’ve brought this item up in many different forums, and I rarely ever hear anyone else suggesting it. THERE IS NO BETTER TOOL THAN THIS to double up. Spread the word!!!
In case the link doesn’t work, just google “Wartenburg Pinwheel”
All of that being said, another thing I’ve found very useful (that I rarely ever see anyone else suggest), it to wear two Depend Refastenables, without perforating the inner panty. You can comfortably use this arrangement to go out to movies, sporting events, cross country drives, concerts, etc. When the first panty is saturated, find a bathroom and rip the sides to remove it. Then, tighten yourself back into the outer panty. You can do all of this without messing with adhesive tapes or making obvious noises in a crowded bathroom (still gotta get rid of the wet panty, though…).
I also wear plastic panties (because I’m a big baby) over everything to insure no leaking. The obvious advantage is to have the outer panty work as an safety valve in case the first panty overflows, but then be able to switch it up to a fairly fresh diaper change in the middle of whatever your doing and get to start babying yourself again.
I didn’t mean to trash the other ideas, as much as to show you all how great of a tool this is for babies like us.
I find that if you pinch the plastic outer cover of most diapers carefully, you can pull it away from the fluff inside. I then simply tear the plastic from butt to bellybutton, exposing the fluff and keeping the fluff intact. Depends make a good first diaper as the plastic separates easily and tears neatly along the wetness indicator line. I then put a second diaper over the first. If I am in the mood I may tear the second diaper the same way and add a third (and sometimes a fourth, but it can be too much of a good thing). You can even use the next size diaper for the outermost. I am too small to wear a large diaper, but they fit well over two mediums. Enjoy!
I use an exacto or box knife blade and make tiny slits in all the diapers used as extra layers.
