Understanding Diaper Lovers
Diaper lovers in particular are a unique group of individuals in my opinion. There are all sorts of people out there that love other physical objects such as stuffed animals, toys, shoes, feet, etc etc but when it comes to diaper lovers they stand out. The mindset behind a typical diaper lover is not of anything sexual but more of comfort and security. Ask any diaper lover why exactly they love diapers and the first thing the comes to their mind is not sexual but of a feeling they can’t really explain but only use words such as comfort, security, and relaxing to describe their love for diapers. This sets apart the group of diaper lovers from many other groups out there.
Understanding a diaper lover really isn’t that hard if you can keep an open mind and be non-judgmental. The key to understanding is letting go of preconceptions and be more open-minded and willing to understand. The average diaper lover does not wear diapers or “fixate” on diapers for sexual reasons but merely an object that calms or relaxes them. I know, personally, that even being incontinent – putting on a diaper has a overwhelming relaxation effect on me and calming effect. This bodes true for many other diapers lovers. They are not looking to harm anyone or interfere with other people’s lives. They do want others to understand and not look at them like a freak.
A diaper lover by him/herself is separate from an adult baby. Some diaper lovers are adult babies and some are strictly just diaper lovers (DL’s). A diaper lover merely just likes the act of wearing diapers or participating in diapers while an adult baby enjoys a lot of the “processes” and activities behind acting like a baby outside of diapers. Many diaper lovers usually have some sort of percentage or degree of “adult babyism” in them.
A diaper lover can be your best friend, a coworker, a boss, governor, doctor, attorney, etc. You would just never know it because diaper lovers are typically more discreet than an adult baby. What if you found out your best friend of 20 years wore diapers? Would you automatically classify him as a freak or would you be a lot more understanding an it not be as big of a deal? Well, that is how the average diaper lover wants to be looked at from an understanding perspective – they want you to understand them the same way you would if you found out a best friend wore diapers – more respect, more understanding, and more care rather than automatic judgments.
Changing Adult Diapers in Public Places
I have received a ton of questions in regards to what I do about changing my diaper in public areas – such as malls, parks, etc. This post will hopefully clarify how I handle those situations and how not that noticeable it really is. There really isn’t that much difference. So, how I am going to approach this is name off some general public areas and tell you how I handle those for changing my diaper or having my diaper changed for that matter. I would also like to state to please be respectful of others around you – regardless of how normal myself or you may consider it – people can be offended and it is honestly not appropriate as an adult to just do it so everybody can see.
Mall: The mall is a place I visit often – I am a shopaholic. I have probably mastered changing at the mall. If I am by myself then I just go into a stall in one of the women’s public restrooms and change my diaper there. I just lean myself up against the stall wall for support as I pull the adult diaper up between my legs to change. Nothing fancy but I have probably mastered it so I can take off my wet diaper and change into a fresh one in probably under 3 minutes which to me is pretty good. If my diaper happens to be messy – well that is a more time consuming process where I have to break out my disposable wipes I carry with me in my purse. There really is no easy way to do it – I just sort of prop myself up against the wall or maneuver myself on the toilet and clean myself…graphic I know. Some nice malls have stalls where they are completely enclosed, meaning you can technically lay on the floor and nobody would know…if that is the case, bring a changing pad to lay on and then you can lay on the changing pad on the floor and change yourself. A lot easier if this is an option but it rarely is the case.
Park: I am a big outdoor type person so I love going to parks. Sometimes I actually sunbathe like I am on a beach in just a diaper and bikini top but that is usually only if I can find a semi-private area. The lure of sunbathing in a park in just a diaper is not as “appropriate” in my mind as it can be in a beach setting. But, anyways when I need to change in a place like a park it really depends on the park I am at. Some parks are really private and I will actually either change my diaper right there on my picnic blanket or towel or if Peter is there then he will do it for me. If its not that private then typically I try to find the park restrooms and just change my diaper there. I have to make sure I always bring my supplies because I always like to be prepared for the worst you could say…which believe me, it happens.
On The Road: I do like to travel when I get a chance which entails having my diaper changed in the car a lot of times on the side of the road. Usually, if I am just wet then we try to make it to store or something like that but I will say that when I poop my diaper then neither I or Peter can really bare it too long so Peter ends up changing me on the side of the road in the car. I don’t mind it too much, just make sure you have a blanket/towel/changing pad if you don’t want to get your seats messy.
Rest Stop: Rest stops can be a great place to change an adult diaper especially if you have someone that will change it for you. Many rest stops have family restrooms in which you can go into and have someone help you change your diaper. Peter and I usually go in there together and change our diapers if they have a family restroom with private sections in them. This is probably the easiest way. Some rest stops have private areas that you can go off to where nobody is around, look for these, and you can change your diaper there if you do not want to deal with a large crowd in the restrooms for some reason. Some rest stops can get busy so sometimes we opt to find a private area around the rest stop and change our diapers.
Beach: Changing an adult’s diaper on the beach is very similar to the park. Its just one of those things where it depends on how much privacy you have on whatever beach your at. Some beach areas have like nobody on it that we have been to in which case I just change my diaper right there on my beach towel. But, most beaches have at least some people on it – in which case I will be respectful and take a diaper out of my beach bag and walk up to a restroom or where ever I am staying and change my diaper there.
Changing an adult diaper in a public place is all about a moderation between your own comfort and respect. You have to respect the others around you and realize that even if you are comfortable with it, they most likely aren’t. So, please keep that in mind when you consider changing your diaper in public places. Changing a diaper is a must especially if you poop your diaper because serious rashes and discomfort can come from it so changing in a public place is inevitable. But, just keep in mind my experiences and be courteous to others and you will be fine with being comfortable wearing diapers out in public places without fear of having to change your diaper there. I recognize men can’t always just carry around a bag with a diaper in it like women have purses – all I can say to that is to either carry a backpack in certain situations or keep your diapers in your car – preferably in a trunk where it is typically cooler.
Getting Enough Fiber
I am a big supporter of fiber and how important it is in the diet. Fiber has more benefits than a lot of people know about. One of the biggest positives of fiber is that it is very important in helping to prevent colon cancer as well as some studies show that it can help prevent other types of cancer including uterine cancer, ovarian cancer, and even breast cancer. Other benefits include helping to control weight, relieving constipation, and lowers blood cholesterol levels. I am all about trying to prevent cancer as cancer terrifies me so anything I can do to help prevent it, I do it!
Every morning I always have a bowl of oatmeal – oatmeal is super rich in fiber and is a nice way to wake up my stomach, intestines, and bowels and get them going. Graphic, I know. Being incontinent does not mean you should not keep your intestines and bowels running good. Its still extremely important. I usually by the High Fiber Quaker Oatmeal – it has about 40% of the recommended fiber intake (10 grams). Through out the day I also try to eat a lot of vegetables and fruit even though I don’t always succeed. But, I probably consume at least 25-35 grams of fiber each day…some days more and some days less. Forces me to change my diaper a bit more since it makes me even more “regular” you could say – but, its worth it to me to be healthy.
I encourage everyone here if you are not getting enough fiber that you should. It will just make you feel better, trust me. Try eating more whole grains. Simple things like substitute your white bread for 100% whole wheat bread and throw some nuts into your daily intake…preferably almonds! Almonds are one of the best foods for you – good for protein, fiber, and healthy fats. Healthy fats are super important too but that is another post for another day.
Plus, if you eat healthier and more whole grains, etc etc; your poop will be “firmer” (we are all adults here, graphic but only way to describe) and will come out easier and actually will not smell as potently. One of my tricks
Anyways, the point is that ever since I have been making sure to get fiber I typically poop at least once or twice a day which for me is healthy because I know my body. Some people may go more or less – there is not set number for everyone. Just be sure you have a good diaper to contain it all if you have been constipated or what not and you start taking fiber – because more than likely at first you will go a lot – like I did
I know this post was all over the place but hopefully you gleamed the important facts from it
How I Make the Most of My Adult Diapers
I know everyone is always looking for ways to save money when it comes to their adult diaper “stash”. If you knew me, you would know I am actually a pretty frugal person and am always looking for ways to stretch my dollar so I am here to show you a few of the ways I save my money when it comes to my adult diapers. Check them out below:
- Order Online: One of the best ways to save on adult diapers and products is to order your products online. Online you cut out at least one middle man which ends up cutting costs when it comes to buying diapers.
- Order Adult Diapers in Bulk: Bulk ordering is the way to go. You may think your getting a great deal by ordering in packs in store but when you calculate the price per diaper – you are getting ripped off when it compares to ordering in bulk. Trust me, order by the case! You save a lot more money by ordering in bulk!
- Go With Premium Adult Diapers: I learned the hard way with this. I used to be the girl buying the cheap ol’ Depends or Attends because they were cheap but I would end up changing my diaper close to 6 times a day sometimes which is outrageous and you end up going through a pack super fast. Order premium adult diapers with the best absorbency you can get because they will last you longer and make you more money. (Recommendations: Secure X-Plus, Bambino Diapers, Abena X-Plus, Molicare)
- Use Boosters: Looking for a good cheap way to extend your diapers even longer? Buy some boosters to stuff in your diapers and it will make them last even longer! You don’t need the super pricey ones if you don’t want. Any boosters will work because they will add a lot of absorbency.
- Don’t Pay Shipping: Don’t pay for shipping! Shipping costs can be super expensive and add a ton of money to the total cost of the diapers.
- Watch Your Changing: Watch how often you change. Especially, if you buy premium adult diapers – you will be surprised how much those adult diapers would hold so watch changing after just one wetting. Be frugal with your changes
Other than those tips – just be frugal and wear when the best times are for you if you are a pleasure wearer. These tips may seem obvious for being frugal with adult diapers but trust me a lot of people don’t think about them when ordering their diapers…I know I don’t always. But, TRUST ME, they can save you tons of money. If you have any questions – feel free to ask – I will definitely help!
Vacationing in Diapers at the Beach
Vacation is something so many people look forward to for the few times a year that you are actually able to take a vacation. I just got back from vacation a couple weeks ago. I went to Virginia Beach and I was thinking about my ritual of packing and making sure I have everything I need when vacationing and having to wear diapers as well.
I am one of those obsessive people that have to make sure they have more than enough things (i.e. clothes, toiletries, diapers, wipes, etc) just in case. I am a worry wort. Yep, I am the person with like 4 bags for a 3 day trip. That is me! Make fun of me all you want to but I am always prepared
Anyways, I am going to address packing and then dealing with wearing adult diapers when you are at the beach on vacation.
Packing: I highly suggest getting a roll away luggage bag instead of just a regular bag because these are able to fit your clothes and adult diapers and supplies a lot better AND neater! I am a neat freak so I like my packing organized! What I do is always bring the most absorbent adult diapers I have on vacation (typically Bambino, Secure, and if I have Abena then I will bring them) in order to minimize bringing tons and tons of diapers which takes up even more room. The more absorbent adult diapers allow for longer lengths between changing which obviously reduces the amount of diapers you need to carry. I usually pack my diapers in a whole separate luggage bag (that is just me though). I will usually bring 2-3 thinner diapers which usually are Attends or Tranquility which I will wear on the beach. Thinner diapers are a must on the beach because it is usually hot and I don’t want a huge bulky diaper on when I am on the beach. So, you can go with Attends, Tranquility, or Secure Plus or Secure Premium adult diapers for the thinner ones…or Depends but I hate Depends lol. Make sure you remember to pack lots of powder (helps to keep cool) and loose fitting clothing because when you are the beach you don’t want to feel so constricted when wearing diapers at a hot beach (at least I don’t). Something about the beach instills a sense of “freedom” in me and I like to bring loose fitting shorts, wraps, etc that are just more “flowy” and “liberal”. No tight jeans or pants for me usually unless we go to a nice restaurant.
Dealing With Adult Diapers at Beach: People ask me all the time how do I go about wearing diapers when I am at a beach. Well, most times its on a “how I feel” basis. If there are tons and tons of people around then I try to be a little bit mindful of people’s feelings and I will not just wear a diaper and top…I will usually put my bathing suit bottom over the top of the diaper just so it covers it up some. For guys, its probably easier to cover it up all the way since they wear board shorts or something like that. If there are not too many people or I am just in one of those I don’t care moods then I will just wear the diaper and my bathing suit top (sometimes I have a t-shirt on over my top). I mean, that is how I handle it because its not a big thing to me anymore. It is all about confidence and respect. If you act like it is no big deal and you aren’t acting like some sort of crazy fool on the beach wearing a diaper then most people will not care and assume its for a disability. But, if you are acting super babyish or being stupid then most likely people are going to give you strange looks a lot more often and criticize you – which is rightfully so! So, it is all about being confident and not letting a few looks destroy your feelings BUT at the same time being respectful as well. I am a very very accepting person and if I saw somebody doing something completely out of the ordinary I probably would not care (yeh I may look but not really care) BUT, if they are being stupid, disrespectful, completely inappropriate, hurting someone, etc. then of course I am going to give them strange looks. So, the best advice I can give you with wearing diapers at the beach is to just be confident but also mindful if there are tons of people around.
Let me leave you with a rough statistic before I finish up this post…I have been to the beach probably over a 150 times in my entire life from just age 10 to now (mid 20′s). I can count on probably 1 hand the amount of times anyone has ever said anything to me about my diapers while I am at the beach. And, NONE of them were disrespectful – they were just curious. Of course, I have had some strange looks but by no means is it the majority – and most people don’t notice unless you are all over the place. So out of the thousands of hours I have been at the beach – MAYBE, an hour of those thousand hours was I ever interrupted about my diapers. Hopefully, this helped some of you all gain a little more confidence in wearing your diapers and not letting it ruin a vacation or cause stress BUT also learn to show a little respect as well for others.
The Premium Adult Diaper Industry
So, I know I haven’t posted in a while – been busy with some family things and personal issues. But, hopefully all that is done and I am good to go. I wanted to write a post on the premium adult diaper industry in general.
The adult diaper industry is huge. I mean huge. The premium adult diaper industry though is big but not big as in variety. There are only several huge adult diaper companies that actually put out a “premium” adult type diaper. When I refer to premium, I am referring to the heavy duty type adult diapers that are meant for big messes
If you really think about just how many truly “premium” adult diapers there are – it really is not that many and you start to see the lack of variety. You can probably name them on one hand: Abena X-Plus, Bambino Diapers, Secure Personal Care, ABUniverse, Molicare, and maybe Unique Wellness Brief and Dry 24/7. Those are the big time premium adult diapers on the market. What is also funny if you look at this list is that only 3 of those are truly American made adult diapers (Bambino and Secure)…which raises a question on why there are so few premium adult diaper manufacturers in the United States? Abena I believe is German, ABUniverse is manufactured outside of the United States, Unique Wellness Briefs are out of I believe Australia originally, etc. I left out Tranquility ATN because I don’t consider it on the same level as these adult diapers. I believe Molicare may be manufactured in the United States but was originally created over seas somewhere…at least I remember someone saying that somewhere…so don’t quote me on that.
I recognize that the premium adult diapers are made for a special population and not everyone needs such a heavy duty adult diaper. But, I think the manufacturers are really missing out on a specialized and focused group. Now, the one thing I can think of that may keep some manufacturers away from producing a premium diaper especially for the ABDL type people is the mass complaint system and small room for error. Consider this, Bambino Diapers does just that – they created a specialized adult diaper for the ABDL community mainly – fortunately, there product is really good and amazing but that does not keep the few that despise them for some reason to make it their mission to badmouth Bambino Diapers. When you have a specialized group and one person chooses to be immature that can really hurt a company that specifically caters to a smaller selection of people. So, it is risky for companies I would imagine to create a premium adult diaper for such specialized communities and/or groups when a few people who decide to be immature just plain don’t like the diaper or prefer another one over that one but want to badmouth about it to others for no reason. The same can be said for Abena – some people hate Abena products because of the tapes but the fact is that Abena makes very good products as well but a minor issue such as sometimes their tapes can be difficult cause people to go off on tangents about how terrible of a diaper it is – which is obvious not true. So, I would imagine that some companies think it is a risky operation to cater to such specialized groups which is why you don’t find so many “premium” type adult diapers.
Fortunately, the ABDL community and others can be thankful that a select few companies have decided to either cater to us or continue to manufacture a good premium product that can be used in the adult baby and diaper lover community. I know my thoughts are a bit sporadic today and you will have to forgive me on that – I sort of just type out what I think sometimes. And, I just think sometimes we may be a little too harsh on certain companies when it may be just because of a bad batch of adult diapers or small little inconsistencies that are normal in the manufacturing process. Little problems like that should not cause us to hate a product. I can understand big problems like a diaper ripping all the time, switching to cloth, poor customer service, etc. Those reasons I can understand for complaining but we as a specialized community should not be so quick to complain and crucify these companies that actively support us and provide great products whether it is specifically for us or not. I mean can you imagine what diapers you would be stuck with if we didn’t have Bambino Diapers, Secure, Abena, Molicare, or the other premium adult diapers. I am not hating on Depends or anything but I don’t know about you – but I don’t want to be relegated to using Depends or Attends the rest of my life and always worrying about leaks and all the other problems that come with the cheaper adult diapers. Just my thoughts!
Supporting Adult Baby and Diaper Lover Companies
The adult baby and diaper lover community is huge. I have personally done research in comparison to just how popular the community is in regards to other “communities”. The ABDL community is unique and I think is a grossly underestimated community that many business have yet to take advantage of. The few ABDL specific companies that at least gear their products to ABDLs are limited but are typically very good. Some companies do not flat out say they are adult baby and diaper lover supporting people but they advertise within the community and their products are made on the more “adult baby conscious” mind in my opinion. For example, Secure Personal Care is a company that is not “advertised” as geared towards ABDLs but they are very ABDL friendly and many of their products cater to the needs of the ABDL community. The thickness, design, etc of their products are all assets many ABDLs desire. The same cannot be said for Depends because most of their assets in their diapers are made for the everyday incontinent user in mind which means less absorbent, thinner, etc. So, I devised a list of companies that I believe are very ABDL friendly in my experience of ordering from them:
- Bambino Diapers: The best probably adult baby and diaper lover company on the market. They specifically and actively gear their products to the ABDL community and all their products are high quality. They probably came up with the official and most popular true “adult baby diaper”.
- ABUniverse: Another actively ABDL specific adult baby and diaper lover business gearing many of their products towards ABDLs. While not as popular due to their history of poor customer service, not as high quality of products, and high prices – the variety they offer appeals to many that are willing to pay top dollar for more of the look.
- Secure Personal Care: They actively advertise in the ABDL network but their products website gears towards the incontinence community. But, don’t let that fool you because their products are one of the most absorbent on the market and they have a really good selection of adult diapers in different absorbency levels. Their Secure X-Plus is famous for being super comfortable and highly absorbent in the ABDL community.
- XPMedical: This site carries a large variety of incontinence products and is active in the ABDL community. They carry a lot of adult diapers than many ABDLs associate with as well as they are very ABDL aware and friendly.
Those are the main sites I have had experience with that are very ABDL aware and friendly when it comes to ordering and I am sure there may be a few others but these are in my experience and from what I have seen. I think it is important to support all these companies because they are what runs the adult baby and diaper lover community in allowing many of us to use great products instead of using the same old products such as Depends and Attends. These companies provide a great service to the adult baby and diaper lover community and I feel they should ALL be supported. If you haven’t tried ordering from one of these – you definitely should give them a shot. If you are looking for good prices on the most absorbent adult diapers on the market go with Secure Personal Care’s Secure X-Plus Adult Diaper or Bambino Diapers or you could try XPMedical….if you are looking for more of just the look of baby diapers and willing to pay a very high price for the look but lower quality and lower absorbency then give ABUniverse a try.
Profiles Update
So, I wanted to let everybody know that I have been hard at work on getting profiles working! And you will all be happy to know that I have successfully got profiles to work! I am making a few minor tweaks in the setting and what not but I will put up instructions on how to register a profile and what they can be used for later when I get the registration up! Hopefully, this will add more interaction to this blog than it already is and open up more possibilities! Lots of different things will come from this, I promise – as well as it will be kept moderated and safe…stay tuned!
