Adult Diaper Tricks and Tips

February 15, 2010 by Adrian

This post is going to be a list because I wanted to share some tips and tricks that I think may help some of the ABDL community.  I am sure many of you already know some of these but I figured I would list them out:

  1. Pick an adult diaper with a waistband because it really helps to prevents leaks and hugs the diaper closer to your body making it more comfortable.
  2. Take the adult diapers out of the plastic bags they come in to allow them to expand.  When the diapers are in the plastic bags, they are compressed,  so take them out and allow them to expand so they are more flexible and softer.
  3. When putting on an adult diaper, make the two top tapes tighter than the two bottom tapes.  The top tapes of the diaper will make the diaper tighter but the looser bottom tapes will still be secure but allow the flexibility of the legs.
  4. Always pick an adult diaper with standing leg cuffs as this is the single most important thing in a diaper in preventing leaks.  You may be surprised how many adult diapers do not come with this important feature.
  5. Change your diaper no later than 1 hour after a super wet diaper and 30 minutes after a poopy diaper.  These are the time restrictions I try to adhere to because otherwise I notice I may begin to chaff.
  6. Always put powder on the inside areas of your crotch and on the inside of the diaper.  This will help keep you cool but also prevent rubbing and chaffing.
  7. Pay attention to price per diaper in regards to buying diapers to make sure you are getting the best deal if you are watching your budget.
  8. Buy your diapers online and in bulk to reduce costs.  Buy diapers in cases from reputable dealers to get the best price.  (i.e. Bambino Diapers, XP Medical, Secure Personal Care, etc)
  9. Wear plastic pants to help reduce the smell of a poopy diaper if you are in a public area.
  10. If you are a woman, position diaper doubler/boosters more towards the seat and back of the diaper to maximize absorbency.  If you are a man, position the diaper doubler/booster more towards the front of the diaper to maximize absorbency.

Hopefully, some of these tips helped you out or at least reinforced some concepts that really can help you not only maximize your diaper use but also save you money in the process.

Adult Diapers and Insurance, Incontinence, and More

February 12, 2010 by Adrian

I have gotten the question several times asking about why I don’t just use my insurance to get adult diapers.  Well, there is a multi-part answer to that question.  First, the adult diapers on my insurance plan would not be free and would only be discounted, so its not like getting free adult diapers.  Second, in order for me to do that I have to buy from medical supply stores and most of the medical supply stores in my area carry adult diapers that are not to my liking very much.  Third, I would have to specifically go to the doctor for the sole reason of getting a note saying I need diapers and that my insurance should cover it (annoying).  Finally, I just prefer to spend any money I have on the best diaper I can get because I have found that saves me money in the long run.  Hopefully, that explains why I usually just buy my adult diapers from Bambino Diapers, XP Medical, or Secure Personal Care.  Plus, I like shopping online, its more hip! LOL

Incontinence really isn’t as bad as people make it out to be.  I am sure to the thought of some people, incontinence is just this thing where you just completely soak yourself or defecate on yourself all the time.  It makes it sound so horrible when you put it like that.  But, like anything in life, it can be easily managed and a positive can come from a negative.  Being incontinent and wearing diapers 24/7 completely changed my life and made me just overall a happier person.  I accept people a lot easier and don’t really hold grudges because once you realize that you, yourself, are imperfect and have flaws then you tend to see other people’s “flaws” or “differences” a little easier and accept them better.  Also, diapers have really toned me down I think and had a big relaxing effect on my life.  They help me not stress so much and just look at life from a more positive outlook…its hard to describe but it makes you feel secure with yourself.  I have also learned to look at negatives in my life and realize that typically a positive can be made from it.  So, this completely can turn your world around because once you look at a negative not just as a negative but also an opportunity to make a positive, its life changing!

Hopefully, that addressed some of your questions.  So, I am back to work and can’t wait to get off work so I can go home and get in the shower…as sad as it is, I haven’t had a shower in a day and a half.  That might not seem very long to some people but when I have had two messy diapers since my last shower – regardless, of how well I was wiped down and powdered – you still feel icky.  So, I can’t wait for my shower tonight LOL.  Then, I think we may go see a movie or rent something.

Quiet Night in Diapers

February 11, 2010 by Adrian

We are just sitting here watching sports.  Not doing anything too exciting.  I took a quick shower after work and then got diapered up and now am laying around in a Bambino and sweatshirt.  Its probably one of my coziest outfits though.  I have this old raggedy sweatshirt/hoodie that is so super comfortable.  I think we might watch a movie…sorry I am pretty tired today and don’t have too much to say.  If you have anything you would like me to address or answer…feel free to comment and ask.  I will either answer or make a post on it.

Premium Diaper Prices Comparison Chart

February 10, 2010 by Adrian

So, I have been catching some flak from a few people about my ABUniverse diaper prices rant.  First, all I want you to do is first look at the chart below…granted it only includes Bambino and Abena in comparing to the ABU Cushie diaper.  I only included Bambino and Abena on this one just because I consider those two adult diapers to be the top echelon of adult diapers in regards to absorbency and features.  I will post a full comparison chart eventually when I am done to help some people but hopefully this clears up at least part my concern for some of you.  Its great what they are doing to contribute to the community and I do appreciate it – but their prices are just concerning to the people who don’t have that sort of money.  Here is the Chart (click to enlarge):

Premium Diaper Prices

Picture 1 of 1

Now, take note that while I think the ABU Cushie diaper is a great addition to the ABDL community – its price is particularly high especially considering it lacks some of the features the other two premium diapers have.  I also didn’t include minor things that an everyday wearer notices and takes note of in between the diapers ONLY because I have not tried a ABU Cushie even though they are suppose to be pretty much identical to the Super Dry Kids diaper (just a diff. look).  And, if they are, there are some glaring differences there as well that you would notice only by wearing it.

I am only pointing out a PRICE discrepancy that is quite notable between the adult diapers that makes people wonder…I am not questioning anything else…I appreciate their contribution to the ABDL community as any contribution really is a good one in this day and age.

Once again, choosing an adult diaper comes down to a multitude of things which I have noted before and everyone has their budget, their likes, dislikes, comfort level, body type, etc.  My budget is not that high especially considering I think both the Bambino diaper and Abena are superior to the ABUniverse diapers and many others will agree…but again, some won’t.  My opinion.  Hope this at least help visualize the diaper prices for some of you.

Michael Jackson and His Money Hungry Family

February 9, 2010 by Adrian

OK, so I know this post is completely off-topic but I just had to vent my opinion on this.  As much as I think Michael Jackson was a terrific actor/performer and did more than anyone else could do for the music industry – his family is absolutely the most disgusting people out there.  Michael was all about the fans and wanting to make everyone else happy – but, his whole family is just money-hungry and looking for attention.  We may never know exactly what happened to Michael Jackson that led to his death but what if it was just completely accidental…I mean, Joe Jackson last night on Larry King Live talking about conspiracy this and conspiracy that.  These people are just trying to stir the pot.  This is exactly how possibly innocent people get demonized in this society.  Every time I turn around they are doing some stupid interview and talking about the same garbage…and you better believe they are getting paid to do these interviews.  I understand they want “justice” for their son/brother/whatever but there might not be this huge conspiracy and what not they are talking about.  His family I think is just stretching this out because the more publicity, controversy, whatever they cause = more money for them.  Its really unfortunate because Michael Jackson was completely opposite from his greedy family members.  His family members aren’t humble nor do they use any sense of compassion.  They don’t care if they ruin other people’s lives possibly by dragging and calling out all these people in Jackson’s life just because they are theorizing some mass conspiracy.  Lets just slander everyone’s name with little proof of anything just because I don’t like these people.

OK, I am done venting.  I could rant all day about the specifics and more about Michael Jackson’s family but I would just be boring you :-) I know, completely off topic but some people want to know what I think about outside of the ABDL world and well this is just one of those things that disgusts me because I feel Michael Jackson’s family is completely emberrassing what Michael Jackson stood for.

Adult Diaper Balancing Act of Cost and Features

February 8, 2010 by Adrian

An adult diaper is amazingly complex product but yet looks so simple on the outside.  The idea of an adult diaper is so simple, a piece of plastic with padding in it to contain fluids and solid matter.  When you describe it like that, an adult diaper seems so simple.  But, the making of an adult diaper is complex and takes into consideration a lot of factors.  So many factors go into making an adult diaper including design, appearance, absorbency, material used, features, and cost.  There is a balancing act that must be played with creating adult diapers because manufacturers don’t want to create a super everything diaper that is going to cost butt-loads of money so that only a few select people buy it…that would not be profitable nor beneficial to the masses.

For example, an adult diaper manufacturer could create a super absorbent diaper by purely using polymer which absorbs many times more than pulp/fluff in an adult diaper.  But, this would do two things:

  1. Make the cost of the diaper skyrocket because polymer is a lot more expensive than pulp.
  2. For ABDLs, using purely polymer would cause the diaper to be a lot thinner if it did not contain any pulp at all.

So, an adult diaper manufacturer has a balancing act to play.  Depending on what they are aiming for, they may add more or less polymer depending on the absorbency they are going for.  This exact situation can be seen in the adult diaper industry today, especially in the adult baby and diaper lover world.

The materials used to make adult diapers is extremely important in the diaper manufacturing process.  Everything from the type of plastic to the woven inner-lining of the diaper.  There are many different types of plastic outer coverings and the one you choose is important.  Some plastics have big pores and are more susceptible to leaking or feeling clammy because moisture from wetting the diaper seeps into the plastic outer coating.  The inner-lining of an adult diaper is probably a seemingly “taken for granted” part of the diaper.  But, if you were to compare certain adult diapers side by side you would be able to feel and immense difference in softness of the inner lining (inside) between them.  Bambino Diapers are famous for probably having the softest inner-lining on the market because they have a specially patented blend that makes the inner lining very soft.  So, if you compare for example, a Bambino Diaper’s inner lining to an Attends – you can definitely tell the difference in the diaper’s softness of the inner-lining.

Cost is one of the biggest factors that goes into creating adult diapers.  Keeping the diaper affordable but with the best features, absorbency, and materials used can prove quite a complex process.  Plus, the diaper provider/manufacturer’s “profitability factor” must be taken into account.  Obviously, each diaper sold is earning a profit for a diaper company, that amount earned is determined by the diaper company.  Obviously, some companies are going to be more apt to make a “quick buck” by jacking up their prices.  A person can easily determine the “greed factor” of a company by comparing that companies products with competitor’s prices in conjunction with features. Below, is a PRIME example of this:

The premium adult diapers include Bambino Diapers, Abena X-Plus, Secure X-Plus, Molicare and some would say the ABUniverse Diaper.  If you were to shop around for prices of EACH of these diapers you would notice a similarity somewhat (between a few cents to 10-20 cents per diaper) between the Bambino, Abena, Secure, and Molicare; BUT, there is an outlier and its strange.  The ABUniverse diaper costs around $2.25 PER DIAPER (ABU Cushie) while the Bambino is $1.36 PER DIAPER, Abena is $1.37 PER DIAPER, Secure is $1.36 PER DIAPER, and Molicare ranges from $1.40 to $1.57 PER DIAPER (depending on which store).  This is NOT a knock against the ABUniverse diaper but just merely pointing out a huge discrepancy in price of their diaper compared to the rest of the premium adult diaper market.

To further the argument above, the ABUniverse Cushie diaper does NOT have any insane features that would possibly cause the price to be jacked up so high.  Technically, the ABUniverse diaper is less absorbent than the Abena, Molicare, Bambino and Secure adult diapers.  The materials are of higher quality in all the other diapers than ABUniverse.  The only thing different is the look/design.  The pure design itself should not cause such a huge price discrepancy.  The only thing to conclude from this is that ABUniverse is more interested in making a higher profit by charging an outrageous price for technically an inferior diaper to its competitors in the premium diaper market.  For those with lots of money and really just want the looks, the ABUniverse diaper might be up your alley, but I know I cannot afford to shell out that sort of money when I can get better absorbency, features, and comfort in a Bambino, Abena, Secure, or Molicare diaper.

This article is not meant to bash any diaper but rather point out pure facts and educate the ABDL community and anyone else looking to purchase adult diapers.  Money is always tight now a days for many people, including myself, and I am trying to get the best bang for my buck.  Much of the adult baby and diaper lover community does not think about these things, which you don’t have to, but I just wanted to provide a little tidbit of information that I take into consideration when purchasing my adult diapers (which is quite often).  Money does not grow on trees for me, so I will take a cheaper price adult diaper with better absorbency, features, and material over a super expensive diaper that only has a different look.  But, then again, everyone is different and after something different.

Rainy Weekend

February 7, 2010 by Adrian

The weekend here in the Raleigh area has been a super rainy one this weekend. Quite depressing actually. Gosh, I wish it was snow so bad instead of boring ol’ rain. I wish I lived in Washington D.C. right now where they are absolutely getting slammed with snow. As you can tell I love snow. I think the idea of being trapped inside because of snow with a fire going in the fireplace and just walking around in a t-shirt and diaper holding my favorite coffee mug is fun to me. You northerners probably hate it and its probably a nightmare but I love the “cozy” factor and there is nothing cozier than a diaper plus being warm inside knowing its cold and wintry outside. What can I say, I love snow.

It finally stopped raining today (Sunday), so its sunny here now. Still cold, but sunny. You know what is also weird – when it is sunny outside, I feel more stressed. I know isn’t that crazy. There just is something about it being sunny that makes me feel like I always need to be doing something and I get stressed. Opposed to rain, snow, thunderstorm, etc where the dark clouds and precipitation seems to have a relaxing effect on me. Maybe its just that I have been conditioned over my life to like the cold and dark weather? Since I have worn diapers my whole life I always hated the sunny and hot days because I tend to sweat more in my diaper and can sometimes get a little uncomfortable…but you don’t get that as much with diapers when its cold and not sunny outside. I don’t know, just a thought. Well, thats it for now. I might post again later. I hope everyone out there is having the weather you enjoy outside and staying diapered up.

Doubting Women in the Adult Baby and Diaper Lover World

February 4, 2010 by Adrian

The title of this post was quite hard to come up with in expressing what this post is about.  But, I wanted to talk about women in the adult baby and diaper lover community.

The reality of the internet is that there will always be guys posing as women on the internet no matter what community you are associated with.  But, it really is unfortunate for the ABDL community because the fact is that there are a lot of women into the adult baby and diaper lover topic but are either scared off from the community or completely blasted because they don’t reveal their whole life to a male or even another female right off the bat.  I understand the skepticism when it comes to making sure it is a woman on the other end but on some level there should be an understanding of trust and gradual progression.

The reality is that most people in this community will start talking to a girl in the ABDL community and almost immediately start asking them for photos, videos, etc.  Which, some girls don’t have problems with that and some do and the level of photo “showage” will vary between girls.  Some will show their face and some will show just their lower half or whatever.  But, the first thing wrong here is that guys start out with these questions first before even getting into any sort of meaningful conversation.  Its almost like some men are just after photos of women in diapers just to please themselves (not all guys mind you); When most girls are just looking for conversation and true friends online.

Some people have no problem being completely open in the adult baby and diaper lover community but some don’t and would prefer using only bits and pieces of their true life in order to remain somewhat anonymous.  This is where understanding comes into play.  Girls and even some guys would be more apt to share more if people would be more conversative and understanding rather than so forward and aggressive.

I will probably regret this later but I will share my experience…Me being a incontinent girl that wears diapers all day, everyday, really enjoys the ABDL community and loves engaging in conversations that are meaningful and would love to meet people that are actually semi-intelligent and have lives that don’t revolve around everything diaper related.  Of course, in the beginning, I was unsure of the ABDL community when I first got involved and I was not very forward with anything and I didn’t reveal much about myself besides being a girl.  I tried to protect myself by remaining anonymous in the terms of not using my real name.  But, as I got more comfortable I started sharing more and realizing the community can be an awesome place.  I started slowly feeling more comfortable revealing things about myself and giving more and more.  Eventually, starting I Heart Diapers, and I became even more comfortable revealing things within limits.  I give as much true factual information about myself to the point where I feel comfortable knowing I can remain semi-anonymous so that it would not affect my career/life outside of the adult baby and diaper lover world.  I am active in the community, I have dozens of photos all through out my blog showing basically everything except my facial features.  I mean, with all of that, even so much as showing my boobs area and such – people still to this day question that I am a girl, LOL.  Its almost laughable at this point and you learn to ignore it.  I mean I get crucified by some people in this community because I don’t show my face…I mean get over yourself…not all of us are in that position in our lives to risk everything by flaunting your face in front of everyone in association with the ABDL community.

Unfortunately, all the suspicion has caused girls to barely even be able to talk to other girls because of the doubt that exists and is present in the community because there is always this “doubt”.  Unless you are willing to shake your bum on webcam or take a photo with your face smiling with a big wet diaper and a handwritten sign saying “This is so and so…” then there is not much trust unfortunately and any sort of relationship outside of fantasy land is basically not possible because the relationship online can’t get past that barrier because no one wants to participate in the conversation unless what I said happens first.

People in the adult baby and diaper lover community just need to recognize that at least with me – I will always be somewhat shielded because I have a successful life outside of the ABDL community and I protect that.  I will divulge more and what not if I actually were to meet you or have a good friendship.

To make a long story short and to sum up – understand is that there are tons of women in the diaper community and they aren’t going to be as open as you want them to be at first with you.  Just like on a first date, things are awkward and unsure, and you just have to give the person the benefit of the doubt and not act accusatory to them otherwise there will be no hope in any sort of meaningful relationship.
