Telling Others You Wear Diapers

Monday, June 1st, 2009

One of the biggest obstacles people have is telling others they either enjoy wearing diapers or have to wear diapers.  Both, in my opinion should be approached in the same way and in the same context.  Many people ask me “what do I say” and “how I should say it”.  The first thing I tell them is to be confident and don’t come across if you are doing something wrong because then that just is a bad start.  So, be confident and don’t come across to the person as if you had just robbed a store or something.

Second, never just tell the person flat out that you enjoy and love wearing diapers.  Don’t put it like that.  Whether you you need diapers or enjoy them – the conversation should start out in the context of being for a medical issue.  So, basically if you don’t need them then you will be telling a minor fib or slight exaggeration.  This may come across as morally wrong to a few people and I understand that but it is also morally wrong for others to judge you.  Anyways, just say something along the lines of “I have a minor medical issue that requires me to wear a diaper at certain points of the day for added protection and it provides a sense of security for me”…obviously this statement needs to be tailored and “flowered” up to the person you are talking to but that is a good base to use.  Don’t come across like some obsessive and crazy person that just loves diapers with no reason other than it feels good because 9 out of 10 times the person will associate it immediately in negative light.  You want to provide the justification and reasons up front so that they do not assume and make their own conclusions.  You start out slow with the person and ease them into the explanation.  Don’t say “I love diapers because they make me feel good” – that will probably not get you too far in many cases.  Come off as nervous but confident and make sure that you tell the person that you trust them and think a lot of them to share something like this with them.  It makes that person feel responsible and almost at first proud that someone can trust them…it puts the ball in their court rather than yours.

The main thing I tell people is to have your reasons and justifications laid out up front and to make sure those reasons are not just that you like them.  Start out with that it originated from a medical issue and then go from there.  Use words like “security”, “comfort”, “de-stress”, and “calms me down” because these words are neutral and non-aggressive words that will make what you are telling them easier and put it in a more positive light.  A lot of what you say and how you say it has to be tailored and catered to that person though based on what type of person they are.

Note: If you are truly interested in coming out or telling someone then I will and am open to help walk you through it.  I have a lot of experience with it.  But, don’t contact me for help if you are not going to do it and aren’t serious about it.  I am more than willing to take the time to help you but just make sure you are serious about it.

Keys to the Mental Aspect of Wearing Diapers in Public

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Wearing a diaper in public can truly be a terrifying and stressful situation at first.  I know because I was forced to get used to it from a young age.  Let me tell you that there are certain tricks that I have learned to tell myself that have really simplified the habituation process of getting use to wearing a diaper in public.  Overcoming that fear and stress of the various things you worry about which may range from everything of “I might get caught” to “what if I wet or mess my diaper and someone notices”.  These things can all be dealt with as long as you sit back and think about the possible situations, prepare yourself for them and mentally handle yourself appropriately.  Here are my keys mentally with wearing a diaper in public:

  1. Be Confident: You have to be confident when it comes to wearing a diaper in public.  If you give off signs that you are uncomfortable or doing something ’strange’ then others pick up on that.  If you are wearing a diaper and carry yourself like its nothing and just normal than others will pick up on that as well.  People will most likely associate it with a medical condition and it will completely be looked over and not a big deal.
  2. You Will Never See Them Again: This is a trick that has helped me out immensely.  Ok, so someone happens to spot you wearing a diaper…honestly, what is the likelihood of you ever meeting or seeing that person again?  So, what is the worry?  You have no relation to them, no ties or anything of that regard so what is the big deal?  I recognize that to an extent if you are truly trying to hide it from a certain person (aka: parent) then use common sense in regards to wearing a diaper and what not.
  3. Be Prepared with Supplies: Being prepared and having all your supplies ready for if something were to happen while wearing your diaper out in public will really help you better relax.  For example, if you poop your diaper in public then you want to make sure you have an extra diaper, baby powder, plenty of wipes, and just in case a extra set of clothes in case the smell gets into your clothes for some reason.  This can all be mitigated by wearing plastic pants which really helps cut down on the smell of a poopy diaper.  But, being prepared with supplies is key.
  4. Have a Plan: Formulating a plan before going out in your head will make you not only more comforted but also more confident.  If you poop your diaper here, or wet your diaper there, or if someone you know comes up to you…these are all important aspects to take into consideration.  But, if you address these situations beforehand and know how to react and what to do then it reduces down a lot on the worries and stresses.

These are some of my keys that I learned from and truly helped me get accommodated with not caring about another person seeing my diaper and what not.  Obviously, it doesn’t come over night but with practice and keeping these keys in mind they can really help you get use to wearing diapers in public not only safely but more comfortably.

How I Put My Diaper On

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

So, I get a lot of questions on how exactly I go about putting my diaper on and I see a lot of posts on message boards on the best way to put a diaper on.  So, I am going to tell you what works with me.  This is not to say it is the best for you but it works the best for me.  It also varies by diaper how I do it but mostly remains the same.

For the typical Bambino Diaper that I wear most often – I usually put it on while I am laying down.  It is easier and also gives me the best fit.  So, first I spread out the diaper in front of me making sure every thing is unfolded properly.  Then, I put the powder actually on the diaper before I get down on it so I can see where it all goes and there is no need to actually put the powder on any of my ‘areas’ if I put enough on the actual diaper seat, backing, and front area.  Then, I lay down on it positioning the diaper so that the diaper is higher in the back and comes just below my belly button in the front.

Then, being careful to keep the flaps straight when taping the diaper otherwise it can get that ‘cutting into you feeling’ if you happen to have tight clothes on (i.e. me with my typically tight jeans).  I always tape up the top tabs first so that I can position my legs afterwards to make sure that diaper is correctly aligned on my body before taping up the bottom ones.  You want to allow your legs to be able to move freely and not tape the two lower tabs too low otherwise it can cause discomfort in multiple ways.  So, I tape the two bottom tabs still laying down.  Some people say they stand up to do that but I have never done it that way.

Once the diaper is fully taped up, I stand up and make sure everything looks good.  Sort of wiggle my legs to get the seat of the diaper ‘loose’ and I will typically fold the front of the Bambino Diaper down a bit.  I like that little blue colors in the front of the Bambino’s when you fold it down – I don’t know I think it kind of has a cute and babyish look to it but, that is just me.  So, nothing complicated or extravagant but for those wondering how I put my diapers on – there you go.

The only advice I have is to not tape the tabs too tight otherwise it can cause a lot of discomfort that you necessarily won’t feel immediately but as you move about the day, the tightness will definitely become more prevalent and start cutting into you if its too tight and be very discomforting.  So, make it snug I guess is the keyword here.  A snug diaper is a perfect diaper after all.  And, a little thing I always do if I am not wearing any pants is I like to have the little ‘pouch’ of the seat of the diaper (esp. the Bambino’s do this well) stick out.  I don’t know what it is but its something that I like to do so I will typically maneuver the diaper so as to get that little pouch sticking out between the seat of the diaper and back.  I am sure some of you know what I am referring too…lol sort of hard to describe.

Healthy Food for a “Healthy” Diaper

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

Haha I love the title of this blog post…honestly, I just came up with it off the top of my head.  For those who don’t know what I mean when I say “Healthy” in quotes I mean bowel movements and wetting your diaper.  This has been an age old question for some people that want to be able to use their diapers in regards to pooping in their diaper.  What do I eat to poop in my diaper?  I have seen this question multiple times.  And, of course you can always do it the “unnatural” way by using laxatives and enemas (gross in my opinion).  I don’t need to use any of that as incontinence takes it presidence over all if you catch my drift.  But, here is what I have gathered from my experience in regards to the best types of foods for ‘me’ that have created “healthy” diapers.  For those of you who are wondering, pooping is probably one of the healthiest things you can do for yourself – get regular!  It not only helps with weight management but also in a way flushes out your body.  But anyways, here are my tips that work for me.

Tips for Pooping in Diapers

  • Water, water, water – I can’t say this enough.  You can eat all the fiber you want and foods you want but water is by far I have found the “stimulant” in my case.  Carry around a Nalgene bottle or some other water bottle with you all day and just drink it slowly.  Trust me, I don’t know the complete science behind it but proper hydration is going to help give you those “bulkier” and “easier to pass” types of defecations.
  • Cereal – for me atleast I have no idea what it is but when I make sure I eat my cereal in the morning before work I can almost always expect a poopy diaper early to mid-afternoon.  Its not always perfect but cereal with skim milk seems to do the trick for me.  Mind you I do eat unhealthy cereal as well and it does the same thing so you may try adding a bowl of cereal to your diet.  Obviously ones with fiber may help a bit more.
  • Fruit – specifically grapes and strawberries have worked wonders for me.  Even though I am incontinent, irregularity still can be a problem.  Even though I can’t necessarily control when I am pooping – I know its important that it happens because irregularity can cause some health risks.  But, if I add some grapes and strawberries to my diet it seems to really add that ‘bulk’ you could say.
  • Pasta for dinner – Another thing I have noticed is when I have a healthy dose of pasta for dinner I can almost always expect to have a filled diaper by morning.  Pasta for some reason with me really helps me poop regularly.
  • AND OF COURSE: McDonald’s cheeseburgers LOL – yeh you can laugh all you want but I swear I don’t know what it is but within several hours for some reason its almost guaranteed I need a poopy diaper change from Peter.  I know not the healthiest food but last resort in my case, LOL.

I am sure some of you may already have known most of this but this is my experience and what has worked descently well for me and I believe regularity is a crucial part of anyone’s diet whether it is trying to lose weight or just stay healthy in general.  But, those are my tips so hopefully they will lead to many full diapers for everyone. ;-)

Pant Selections for Diapers

Monday, March 9th, 2009

I have gotten many questions on what I wear, specifically pants, with diapers.  This can be somewhat tricky depending on the type of clothing you are into.  I am into fairly typical clothing meaning a nice pair of jeans maybe paired with a cardigan, tank top or t-shirt.  When wearing a diaper I don’t typically pay too much attention to the clothing I pair the diaper with.  I have multiple types of diapers including Bambino Diapers (obviously thicker) and Attends (obviously a bit thinner).  So, I have a fair amount of pair of jeans, some that are looser and some that are extremely tight.  For the looser ones I tend to be able to fit a Bambino Diaper into it without much problem but if I wear my tight jeans or pants then I will typically go with a thinner diaper such as an Attends paired with a booster pad to add some more absorption.

I do own both jeans and khaki type pants and khaki type pants/shorts are definitely easier to wear a thicker diaper with probably because they have a bit more stretch and leniency in the fit then jeans do for women.  For men, I would imagine this not being too much of a problem when it comes to any size diaper unless you are into wearing slim fit jeans or skinny-jeans.   But, I know most men wear relaxed-fit or classic-fit which typically allows more room in the bottom section to accomodate a thicker diaper such as Bambinos just fine or a thinner one such as Attends or Prevail diapers.  All pants are cut different in the crotch so you just have to really get to know the cut of the pants.  Obviously if you have a pair of pants/shorts that are tighter in the crotch area then you most likely don’t want to wear a super thick diaper unless you want to look like you are wearing a diaper (i.e. major bulge).

Now, for women I do own a few pairs for shorts that I absolutely love wearing with diapers as they are from Hollister and they fit magnificently.  They accomodate a thicker diaper and are short enough that when you sit you can slightly see (not too much) of the diaper in the leg areas poking out.  Obviously, for respect reasons I wouldn’t wear this attire out to a place like a mall or movie theatre.  But, I have worn it to the park, beach, and outdoor activities wear I would consider it a bit more ‘acceptable’.  Hopefully, I have shed some light on diapers with clothing for those who were curious.  If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

The Infamous Poopy Diaper

poopy diaper

You wouldn’t believe the number of emails and contacts I receive asking me about poopy diapers and how to deal with them.  Honestly, there is no simple and magical answer that I can give to many of you in an email.  So, I figured I would try to explain myself the best way I could about how I deal with my poopy and messy diapers personally in a public scene such as the office, mall, or whatever.

First, I am fecal incontinent so its not like I sit there and choose when to mess my diaper so it doesn’t always happen in the most convenient of places.  Things have to be dealt with orderly and you must be prepared first off.  My first advice is buy a pair of comfortable plastic pants that fit over your diaper comfortably.  This not only drastically holds in the smell of a poopy diaper but also can add that babyish touch.  This step is very important.  Try to buy one that is not to tight fitting but tight enough so that it can hold in smells.  My next advice is no matter what, if you plan or don’t plan to poop your diaper make sure to always use a lot of baby powder in your diaper to help conceal any smell from a pooped diaper.  Another advice that some may choose that works very well is powders like Gold Bond or a generic brand that is used for rashes.  It almosts smells like menthol and it feels cool to your bottom for awhile.  So, if your not too concerned about smelling like a baby then that might be a good option as the smell of Gold Bond or other similar brands is very effective at masking the smell of a poopy diaper.

My next advice is the clothing you wear can make a big difference.  I advise wearing jeans or cargo pants as they are very effective in helping keep the smell of a poopy diaper in until you can change yourself.  If you wear shorts or really really loose clothing, its going to be easier for that smell to leak out at a faster rate and thus hit the nose of more passer-bys.  And lastly a large part of why poop smells is from the food you eat.  Artificial flavors and chemicals as well as meats add to that smell.  While I am personally not a vegan or anywhere close to only eating natural foods, try to mix in more natural foods including vegetables that are fresh as well as fruits and try to avoid artificial flavors and chemicals as best you can and this will definitely help keep that smell to a minimal.

My advice works very well for me and everyone is different.  But, there is no substitute to getting to a restroom or wherever and changing the messy diaper and not sitting in it for 4 hours.  If you have specific questions please leave a comment and I will attempt to answer them as best I can by responding to the comment.

Easier Diaper Cleanup

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Poopy diapers really are not that bad to clean up. I suggest personally that if you are a male that you shave your butt area. Peter does and it makes cleaning up his messes a ton easier. Here are some quick tips for shaving your butt area without the itch so famously known for after shaving (Peter does this and he hasn’t itched since):

  • Use Nair For Men to get rid of the outside butt hair off (not the inside as you are not suppose to get it close to your ‘anus’ per the instructions).
  • Use a hair trimmer or shaver to get rid of any excess and use to shave inside the crack area to get rid of a lot of the hairs.  This way it doesn’t cut into the root of the hair which causes a lot of the itching you experience.
  • Use a good moisturizer lotion afterwards and every time you get out of the shower all over your butt.
  • Always use baby powder when putting on a diaper or changing.
If you are looking for a good moisturizer I would suggest this one: Secura Moisturizing Lotion 8 Fluid Ounce Bottle
These are some helpful tips for making messy diaper changes easier to cleanup and also preventing that itchiness that comes with shaving.  Don’t use a razor as that will for sure cause you to itch down there and from experience (both Peter and I) – its not fun at all.

Diapered in the Summer

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Being diapered definitely has its multiple advantages but there are its disadvantages.  One being during the summer when it is quite hot outside wearing a diaper can be somewhat cumbersome.  It sweats, itches, and anyone who has worn during that time knows what I am talking about.  Being a girl does have its advantages though over boys.  I can wear skirts so it lets a slight breeze up into wear the diaper is and most boys don’t wear skirts unless of course your scottish (kilts…) but anyhow I am going to over a few tips to staying cool that I have come across that many of you may or may not have though about.  These are surely good tips to staying cool when wearing a diaper during heated times:

  1. Wear light colored and loose fitting clothing: Light colors reflect light while dark colors absorb it making it hotter.  Looser clothing allows for more airspace in your clothes so air can pass through allowing you to cool off.
  2. Try Cloth Diapers: While many people including myself are not big cloth diaper fans – certain fabrics definitely help you stay cooler than others and won’t make you as itchy as plastic diapers.
  3. Change Wet Diapers Quickly: A wet diaper is naturally warm and can increase your body temperature down there and spread to the rest of your body very quickly so be sure to change that wet diaper of yours as quick as you can.
  4. Use a Good Baby Powder: A good brand of baby powder is especially important in staying cool.  Powder helps cool your area down there which in a sense helps you stay cool everywhere else.  A good baby powder that I personally like to use is this: Purity Organic Natural Baby Powder 3.6 oz.
The scent is very pleasant and its organic. Its a very nice powder that is very hard to find in stores. I highly suggest this baby powder.
  5. Avoid Plastic Pants: Plastic pants only add to keeping the heat in when wearing diapers.  At least for the summer time try to avoid wearing plastic pants or buy a thin brand that aren’t as thick.
  6. Take Your Time During Diaper Changes: Whether you or your friend/spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend/etc are changing you be sure to let them know to take their time so that you can air out and allow some air to get to your private area to cool you off.  This not only helps to prevent diaper rashes but also helps keep you cool.
These are some of the main tips I personally follow when trying to keep cool during hot times.  There are many others I am sure and if you have some you are always welcome to share them.  Look forward to hearing some great ideas.
