My Opinion of Non-Incontinent Diaper Users

Friday, June 26th, 2009

My opinion of people who wear diapers and are not incontinent is not negative at all.  Just because I am incontinent does not mean I don’t enjoy the same thing about wearing diapers as the rest of the community.  While, I came to love diapers probably in a different way than most of you as I grew up wearing them while many other ABDLs stumbled upon them or somehow found a love for wearing diapers.  While, I don’t regard my love for diapers as “fetish” because I do not focus on them or see them as a sexual object or in a sexual way.  I see it as more of enjoyment, fun, comfort, security, and also a little bit of fashion!  But, I recognize many people in the community do not see it like this solely and do see it in a more sexual way or in other ways.  I am a very free and open person and I do not judge others.  My opinion of people who wear diapers that don’t need them is that I am happy for you and glad you found something that makes you feel good, so long as you are not hurting anyone else.  I am a big believer in not letting diapers or any other “fetish” or what not cause a major hindrance on your social life.

I have a strong connection to the ABDL community and I find us very different from other communities.  This adult baby and diaper lover community is different kind of community because it doesn’t completely center around sexual connotations and ideas.  Many people who wear diapers are just doing it for the comfort, security, sounds, etc.  This is a far-cry from many other “fetish” or communities in my opinion because they focus more on the sexual side while the ABDL community does not focus on that as much.  Which, in my opinion makes us special and an outlier among all the communities.  I am honestly proud to be part of the ABDL community and to meet so many wonderful people.  And because I am feeling good – I included a recent photo below!

My Incontinence and Diapers

Monday, June 15th, 2009

My incontinence is not caused by a formal disease but rather it is caused by congenital birth defect.  Internal structures in my body were not fully formed and that is what causes my incontinence.  There are no true surgical options for my birth defects that can cure my incontinence.  There are ‘experimental’ surgical options that are not covered by insurance and are not guaranteed to work that I have opted not to do at this stage in my life.  For one thing, with insurance not covering them they are extremely expensive.  I would rather manage my incontinence with diapers and sometimes medication.  I have taken a few medications to try and just manage it but they are expensive and not that effective.  They would never be able to cure it anyways just reduce it.  Not much can honestly be done for structural defect incontinence that you are born with and never fully formed.  I don’t know the whole medical terminology for what didn’t form but it is a combination between my bladder and the nerves within the bladder that send signals to the brain indicating that you have to urinate or defecate.

I accepted a long time ago that diapers were going to be a part of my life forever and I made the absolute best of it.  Now, I love diapers and can’t imagine my life without them.  They give me so much more then management for urinary and fecal incontinence; they give me comfort, security, and joy in general that I love.  Sometimes life gives you things that may seem like a curse at the time but honestly if you learn to embrace it and make the best out of it then it will usually turn out to be a positive thing in your life rather than a negative.  Life is too short to be filled with negative things, fill it with positives!

Supposively, birth defect incontinence is not as common as other forms of incontinence but it is fairly common in the overall statistics.  That is what I was told at least.  Honestly, if there was an operation that was discovered tomorrow that would fix my incontinence, I would not have it.  This is who I am and I have learned to cope and make the best of it.  It really doesn’t cause me that much trouble as many may think.  I mean the hardest thing to watch out for really is poopy diapers in really public and close quarter areas and the only thing there is I just don’t want others to have to “suffer” the smell if I do happen to mess my diapers.  But, even that can be managed with plastic pants which significantly reduces the smell.

P.S. Thanks to Calista for your question – hopefully this answered it!

Bambino Diaper Dry Weight vs Wet Weight

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Many people have asked me about a dry weight and wet weight comparison of Bambino Diapers with another premium diaper like Abenas.  Well, I didn’t do this experiment myself but somebody else did.  I am just reposting it from their post.  Keep in mind the experiment was done with water which is not completely accurate but still it ends up favoring Bambino and I will explain why Bambinos are even more favored if a proper solution was used that emulated urine more.  So here is the post:

“I tested the absolute absorbency of the Abena X-Plus and the Bambino Bianco by first weighing them dry and then weighing them after soaking them in water for 10 minutes, then letting them hang to dry for 10 minutes. I also did the same thing for the Abri-Let Maxi and the Bambino Quadro. I used a kitchen scale that measures to the closest 5g; not that it really mattered in the end, there was one very clear winner…

Dry weights:

Abena X-Plus – 185g
Bambino – 165g

Abri-Let Maxi – 70g
Bambino Quadro – 45g

Wet weights:

Abena X-Plus – 4255g
Bambino Bianco – ~6600g !! It actually exceeded the kitchen scale’s range so I weighed it on my bathroom scale (14lbs.) and converted the result.

Abri-Let Maxi – 620g – this had a lot of press out/runoff when I hung it up because it is mostly pulp. It also compressed in thickness as well.
Bambino Quadro – 1880g !! This one swelled to almost quadruple the thickeness of the Abri-Let !! I will post a picture to my gallery of the comparison. It is impressive considering the dry comparison pictures. “

So, this person experimented with water testing the absorbancy between Bambino Diapers and Abena.  They also tested the Bambino Quadro and Abri-let Maxi.  So, water is not a accurate representation of real urine.  If a saline solution (salt solution basically) which is more representative of urine was used then this would only make Bambino Diapers better.  Bambinos have made it clear they use a lot of polymer in their diaper (source: http://www.bambinodiapers.com/news/) and polymer reacts and absorbs better when a saline solution is used.  So, if the tests were done using a saline solution then the Bambino probably would have done even better than Abena using water. So, I guess the lesson we learned is that the dry weight thickness doesn’t always represent how absorbant it is.  It is more about the materials and technology used in the diaper that makes it more absorbant.  So, while the Abena may appear thicker DRY compared to the Bambino, the Bambino actually swells up larger and is MORE absorbant then Abena by a significant amount when actually WET.

Note: The test was performed by a user on Adisc.org

My Monthly Cost for Adult Diapers

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

Someone asked a question about roughly how much do I spend a month on diapers.  That is actually a really good question.  I truly had to sit there and think about exactly what I buy in a month.  So, here is the breakdown of what I spend roughly per month on adult diapers and diaper related products (i.e. baby powder, vaseline, etc).  In regards to diapers I probably spend in the range of $70 a month on adult diapers.  I typically order one case of Bambino Diapers a month so that runs a lot cheaper now since they came out with their new lower prices (helped me out a lot!).  Then, I typically order 1 package of Attends diapers a month so that is roughly $20 give or take…so, it comes out to roughly $70-$80 per month on adult diapers alone.  Which, is not too bad.  A lot of times I still have some leftover from the previous month so I may not order as many diapers the next month – it just depends whether I have more accidents or messes that month.  Just varies.  In regards to the baby accessories – I typically spend probably $10 a month on this sort of stuff.  Mainly that is wipes because messes typically take a bit more wipes to clean up so I usually buy the refiller pack of Pampers Swipers (thicker wipe for “big messes”) which runs roughly $6.  Then, probably $4 for maybe some additional baby powder or baby vaseline to prevent chaffing.  Sometimes, I will buy Desitin so that factors into the cost per month sometimes.

Obviously, this varies certain months but on average that is roughly the amount spent on diapers per month.  I have a huge stash of diapers honestly so if I wanted to take off a few months and not buy any diapers then I could but I am the type of person that likes to feel comforted about having a lot of diapers.  I know, I know – I am strange like that.  But, I would estimate that I probably have over 500 diapers at any given time.  Many are still in their case boxes but yeh.  Being incontinent makes you always prepared for the worst so I make sure I have a good stock of adult diapers and baby accessories such as baby powder and wipes on hand just in case.

Hopefully that answered your question on how much I spend roughly on diapers per month.  I am curious how different I am compared to others…what does everyone else spend ‘roughly’ of course on diapers and baby accessories per month?

Question for my Readers

Friday, April 24th, 2009

So, I had a quick question and I will leave it completely up to my readers and visitors.  I was thinking about putting 1 or 2 Adsense ads on my blog that are non-obtrusive to maybe help offset the cost of running my server costs a bit.  I mean I know I wouldn’t make much from Adsense but I was wondering if I added it would anyone mind it and would you support me by clicking some of the ads sometimes when you visit my blog?  Of course, it would not be anything obtrusive or distasteful.  But, I wanted to get my reader’s opinions before I decided on anything because after all I want my readers to be happy to and not be bothered by some simple ads.  So what do you think?

Pant Selections for Diapers

Monday, March 9th, 2009

I have gotten many questions on what I wear, specifically pants, with diapers.  This can be somewhat tricky depending on the type of clothing you are into.  I am into fairly typical clothing meaning a nice pair of jeans maybe paired with a cardigan, tank top or t-shirt.  When wearing a diaper I don’t typically pay too much attention to the clothing I pair the diaper with.  I have multiple types of diapers including Bambino Diapers (obviously thicker) and Attends (obviously a bit thinner).  So, I have a fair amount of pair of jeans, some that are looser and some that are extremely tight.  For the looser ones I tend to be able to fit a Bambino Diaper into it without much problem but if I wear my tight jeans or pants then I will typically go with a thinner diaper such as an Attends paired with a booster pad to add some more absorption.

I do own both jeans and khaki type pants and khaki type pants/shorts are definitely easier to wear a thicker diaper with probably because they have a bit more stretch and leniency in the fit then jeans do for women.  For men, I would imagine this not being too much of a problem when it comes to any size diaper unless you are into wearing slim fit jeans or skinny-jeans.   But, I know most men wear relaxed-fit or classic-fit which typically allows more room in the bottom section to accomodate a thicker diaper such as Bambinos just fine or a thinner one such as Attends or Prevail diapers.  All pants are cut different in the crotch so you just have to really get to know the cut of the pants.  Obviously if you have a pair of pants/shorts that are tighter in the crotch area then you most likely don’t want to wear a super thick diaper unless you want to look like you are wearing a diaper (i.e. major bulge).

Now, for women I do own a few pairs for shorts that I absolutely love wearing with diapers as they are from Hollister and they fit magnificently.  They accomodate a thicker diaper and are short enough that when you sit you can slightly see (not too much) of the diaper in the leg areas poking out.  Obviously, for respect reasons I wouldn’t wear this attire out to a place like a mall or movie theatre.  But, I have worn it to the park, beach, and outdoor activities wear I would consider it a bit more ‘acceptable’.  Hopefully, I have shed some light on diapers with clothing for those who were curious.  If you have any more questions please feel free to ask.

Diaper Thickness vs. Absorbancy

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I am posing a question to the community in a “just wondering” type fashion.  Being incontinent I am more concerned about absorbancy per-se than thickness of the diaper.  But, that is not to say I want a paper-thin diaper.  I personally would rather a thicker diaper but not ridiculously thick.  But, what if there was a “Diaper A” that felt thicker but absorbed less than “Diaper B” which was a little bit thinner but absorbed more.  Now, I know answers will vary greatly on this topic but I just was curious what people thought.

My thoughts are that while I do like thickness a great deal, personally I would rather absorbancy because I am incontinent and not leaking is my primary goal.  While, I do have a AB/DL side and that is what drives that wanting thickness feeling – my personal preference is absorbancy.  Now, I am sure there are many “what ifs” to this question that can pose issues and there are infinite variables but I guess I am just trying to simplify it.

I love the feeling of a thick diaper between my legs and protecting my bottom but I don’t like it so thick that it makes me waddle.  I am sure many people feel the same way in regards to this.  I still like feeling like a sexy girl and not Donald Duck waddling everywhere.

But, I pose this question to some of you – would you sacrifice a bit of thickness for better absorbancy?

The Comfort Phenomenon

Sunday, November 30th, 2008

Well sorry everyone for not posting in awhile, I have just been dealing with some family things as well as enjoying the holidays.  And I hope everyone else here had a great Thanksgiving if you live in the US.

Anyways, I thought I would post on something that I have noticed that I would almost label as a phenomenon and I am curious whether it happens to many others besides myself, Peter, and a few of our ABDL friends.  I have noticed that when it comes to messing in diapers, even though I am incontinent, I seem to actually only mess when I am somewhere that I am comfortable or familiar with.  Examples of places are my house, enclosed spaces, etc.  But, when I go somewhere like a movie theatre, restaurant, store, or something along those lines I find that I actually don’t mess as much.  Whether this is pure coincidence and timing or a real life phenomenon that you tend to poop when you are more comfortable is beyond my knowing.  I know its easier on Peter when he doesn’t have to change one of my poopy diapers when we are out and about (not that he minds), but I must say its easier to change poopy diapers on a bed or floor rather than a restroom or car.

I am wondering if anyone else has noticed this at all.  Though, I only probably have a small percentage of control of defecation, it is strange that I tend to mess the majority of the time at our house, the car, and for some reason enclosed spaces.  Possibly, it may have to do if when you remember when you were a little kid and you were playing hide-and-go-seek and you were hiding, I always remembered getting nervous and peeing in my diaper while hiding.  I don’t know if its the same concept possibly or just pure coincidence.  All I know is I had wet diapers everytime I played hide-and-go-seek.

So, I am referring to this as a comfort phenomenon just because my theory is somehow being in a comfortable area possibly does something “chemically” inside your body possibly to stimulate digestive movements or triggers other functions that relax the bowels even more.  Because, when I am in the comfortable place I don’t even know I pooped in my diaper most of the time because I most likely lose any small percentage of control I do have.  But, when I have messed in my diaper in a somewhat uncomfortable or unfamiliar place I can sort of feel it come on but I can’t control it or do anything about it.  Its honestly hard to describe this phenomenon and incontinence unless you have it but I did my best to describe it and how it feels.  Just curious if anyone else has noticed anything similar in this respect?

GO GATORS!!! and reader question :)

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

well first off i want to say.. GO GATORS!! :) Even though the game is not over techincally.. I would say that we are going to win :) I never had any doubt! Watch out – national champions are coming!! :) Haha okay I am sure I am going to get some shit about that..but hey they are my team :) what can i say!?

I want to respond to a question that a reader asked..they asked me about if Peter and I mind if people notice our diapers or if we try to hide it. Of course, we never try to hide it! The only time that I tend to be discreet about my diaper is at work because of the high professionality (don’t know if that is a word) required at my job. When we are out in public we don’t mind if anyone sees and sometimes I’ll even wear tight or somewhat revealing things because I know Peter enjoys that :) hehe I hope everyone has a great Saturday and hopefully a relaxing long weekend!! Hugs!

Reader Questions

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

There are two questions I am going to address today:

The first one asked if I was ever potty trained and how it was in school wearing diapers as I was growing up. I was potty trained when I was little but it never semed to work, by the time I was 6 or so I went to the doctor and that was when they discovered my disorder. I have grown up wearing diapers and do not know any differeng. Going to school and growing up when I was younger was not a problem at all, the only people that knew where those very close to me and they never hurt me or were rude to me in any way about it.. I guess you can say I am lucky :)

The second question was about what was my favorite type of diapers….wow! this is hard a question. I am going to have to go with Abena and Bambino simply for the fact that they are thick but managable and they hold a lot and I can go several times before I need a change :)

Sweetdreams…Hugs!
